Once upon a time a heat shield lived on the top of the exhaust manifold. It was made of shit metal and over the years it just dissolved away leaving two rusty bolts and washers. Today the corroded components were relieved of their cast iron tombs and turned into swarf. A replacement shield is on the way as soon as I have a word with our tame metal basher.

It was all held together by a thick, rubbery under seal.

Looks like the bottom lip and inner is complete tho so shouldn't be too bad a job? Apart from the fumes, shitty metal and height* you are having to work at obviously.

I thought perhaps it might have been the tank badge at one time but folk want just as much for all the old James/FB and assorted Villiers powah machines. Very often with no documents either.....
