Home. No pez shot as filled from a can. Weather was absolutely filthy so no fannying about.
Drove really tight and strong given the mileage.

I have always and still do hate VAG. But I'm a sucker for punishment sometimes.
Apart from being a ball ache to work on, they do know how to generally make them drive very nice. Which is why people keep buying them.

It's good innit!
That said, if it's been welded properly then it's no bad thing. They do go on these. Presumably because the plastic sill covers that are on the GTI keep all the dirt in.
Amazingly the wheel arches are fine.
I was a bit bummed when I found out. However providing it's welded properly (light was fading and hard to tell with a phone torch + hand) then I'd rather have a previous owner sack a car off because it failed an MOT on bodywork than mechanical failure. So hopefully it hasn't been driven till all it's mechanical life is used up with little/no maintenance.
Given it was a Co-part car, I imagine they destroyed all the paperwork history on GDPR bollocks grounds, if there was any. The old V5 has confidential stamp on the address but I can make out the street address and name still. I could go around but would be a bit weird. Also it's not in one of the better parts of Bristol. Basically an area where you stereotypically expect a Golf Mk5 GTI owner to live.
