Re: Place related car names
America was the model name given to the Austin ADO16 mix-mash sold in N. America, Lichfield was one of several UK place names given to variants of Austin Ten (the Cambridge nameplate originated in a companion model) others which I didn't mention are Conway and Sherborne....treehugger wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 7:16 pm America Lichfield Teignmouth and saratoga are new to me.
Saratoga was a Chrysler variant of New Yorker, sometimes marketed just below NY and other times slightly above (depending upon what they were doing with Imperials at the time)
Standard used the Teignmouth name in rather the same manner as Austin for their similar sized model range, Avon was another of their place-name monikers.

Re: Place related car names
Surprised you didn't nominate Studebaker Lark variant for Daytona!
Pontiac Le Mans, too and Plymouth (Satellite) Sebring which brings me to Renault Floride.
Fairlane too was a place although really only a glorified house and garden where Henry Ford lived.
