Perkins powered range rover. There should be plenty of fuel available if not everybody is using it.

Can you fit a front pulley off an old Cambridge or something to unlock starting handle capability ?

Mine's outside now just in case they poke Putin too much. The 405 Inastate has zero ecu's on it, not even ABS.FatherJack wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 9:05 pm If the world goes to shit in a spectacular way, think of London becoming a glow in the dark glass surfaced car park then simple technology might be all that is left working.
Anything with an ECU would probably be fried by an EMP bomb.
What is the least technical vehicle you would like to have tucked away for post armageddon ?

Re: What did you do today?
Doblo passed its ITV this morning. Had to go to Murcia as the ITV stations on Alicante are all subject to strike action at any time.
The Murcia station did all the usual checks, then the tester put a cable into the OBD port and stood at the computer screen for about two minutes. Never, ever had this done in previous years in Alicante testing stations.
Wonder what this was for?

In the USA they do it to confirm that all the OBD2 emissions tests pass. One of the design reasons was for OBD2 exactly this.Jerzy Woking wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 10:39 am Doblo passed its ITV this morning. You can also get the VIN out to check it matches and they considered doing this in the UK for the MOT.
My suspicion it was mostly for VIN reading reasons.

Re: What did you do today?
Because they can. They started doing it here recently, but I'm not sure of the vehicle cohort involved.
It currently read for VIN, Odometer, ABS/EBS, emissions Euro 5&6.

Re: What did you do today?
Thanks both. Definitely haven't had this OBD thing done before.
The police in this town have effectively closed three 2nd hand car sales places around here, as the businesses were selling clocked cars.
Maybe the ITV showed differences between ECU mileage and odometer mileage, and this was reported to the police. But that's just my suspicious mind working.
