Pace is easy for EV makers. They don’t seem to even try for space. None of them have a clue about grace. Not a single fucking clue.

I was briefly behind something with an MG badge yesterday. More or less a Suv.
As I suspected I was right about everything.

Re: Building the Leg End. The Old Jag thread.
What has basically occurred is a raping of British automotive core values to re-package and re-sell to a generation of car-users (I hesitate to call them drivers) who will have no fucking idea what the remainder of us are on about. We decided a generation ago not to be an industrial nation any longer and with that decision went most of our manufacturing ability.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

That unfortunately is what sells nowadays.treehugger wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 8:29 am I was briefly behind something with an MG badge yesterday. More or less a Suv.
They do have an electric sports car, expected to cost about 50k, which is not too far adrift of previous MG sports car costs when adjusted for inflation I understand.

There was far more manufacturing going on than automotive too. Huge amounts of that has been sold out to companies based abroad. From computing to nuclear sector to aerospace.

You can blame asset strippers like Lord Hanson and Gordon White for a lot of that and also City 'short termism', being driven by quarterly reporting.
GEC, subsequently Marconi, is a casebook example.
Obviously there's a lot more to it, Sterling being a petrocurrency for a period screwing up BL US exports for example.

It doesn’t. Jaguar’s glory days are too long ago.Warren t claim wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 10:37 pmWhat does Jaguar stand for in the minds of the buying public?mercrocker wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 10:32 pm As what? Not as a British car manufacturer and not with one shred of DNA left.
