What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Why use a pressure washer? Seems like a great way to blast all the sand out between the joints.

That works really well but ime you need a pretty beefy welder for it to do the job properly.

I've done the weld thing when the outer tube of a land rover chassis bush was stuck in the chassis but couldn't see how it would work with this hub.

I had an old disc off the x trail in the scrap pile which fitted the Rav hub so used it as a puller along with some sockets as spacers. With a gap between the disc and the hub, instead of pulling the disc onto the hub, I'd try and pull the hub towards the disc.

I didn't have confidence that the soft as shite wheel nuts weren't going to strip so found some steel nuts and used bigger spacers.

Applied some heat to the knuckle and a few foot pounds and with a pop and a bang it moved about 2 mm.

Kept winding and just as I thought the job was going swimmingly, the fucking inner race came out leaving the remains still stuck in the knuckle.

I'd almost resigned myself to having to replace the whole knuckle but as it had budged a couple of mm, some liberal use of the big hammer and chisel and a bit more heat finally got the bastard out.

I haven't test driven it yet so what's the chances the rumble was from the other side and I've fucked the abs sensor?

Just over a year ago this arrived. Miss the old girl and do keep a look out occasionally to see where it's gone. Hopefully not around an oval.

Could've just got the welder out at that point if it isn't buried.

First barbecue of the year, well not so much a barbecue more a gypsy stew over a log fire. Down a mate's place on the coast. Another old mucker rang me up saying "You're not in are you?" "Nope...."

"Shame" he says, "I've brought a scruffy old Daimler V8 round to give you a go in it"

Oh, well, maybe another time. Dammit.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

Sorry was looking at that outer race in that brown housing. I see now you have a new bit of housing there to replace it with.

Yep, it was getting the housing out of the knuckle that was the problem
