Never a dull moment with this car. Driving home the car went into limp and had a bad misfire shake.
Plugged it in and it told me

CYLINDER 6 MISFIRE
INJECTION SYSTEM FAULT DETECTED
RUNNING CONDITIONS DAMAGING TO CATALYTIC

Started diagnosis. Pulled the plugs. Both looked ok. Swapped positions between 6 and 7 because the diagnosis said cylinder E coil unplugged but cyl 6 misfire. Jaguar do not have one consistent method of numbering the cylinders on their engines.

Started it up, #6 misfire.
Swapped coil packs. #7 misfire. Bingo.
Replaced that coil pack. No faults.

Fault, right there. Fed the bin with it.

Could you not strip the coil down and repair it?
Easy beat.

I could pull it apart and rewind the secondary, but there's no way of pulling the thing apart without completely destroying it.

Isn't that a plumber's definition of a repair?

Did it with the only key for the kia. Glued together and tried to open it with my multitool. Promptly chopped through the circuit board.

Well, that wasn't the problem. The thing reads short because it's an ingenuous plug design.

However, it looks like the issue may be the SRS module itself because it told me the circuit was both dead short and open circuit at the same time.

Open circuit it reads 5 ohm. That's not right. The driver's side 8 ohm. That feels like failing capacitors.
