I pay someone else for major stuff now. If I'm selling a diff for 300 quid, I'll lie under the car and swear at it for 90 minutes for another fifty quid though. My inner whore shines through.

I realised in Cyprus, when the rebuild of my A40 stalled, and having been back over here for several years now, I don't really have anywhere to work anyway. Also, of course, the way my health has slid over the last year or so is holding me back. I can see me hanging on to Huggy for a while yet, but he's not going to get any bodywork until he absolutely has to. Interior "will do as it is" and oily bits get what they need when they need it, which explains why I've just spent £400 on all-new brakes across the front. Bloody hell, those discs are heavy!
The 70s hotrodder in me still wishes I could have completed the A40, mind!
I really dont know how I am doing this one?

I said only one left I would do is a Mk1 Cortina and id bodge that (safely of course) but if the truth be known im bodging this one

There comes a time when you realise the proof is in the tasting and restoring a pretty car but not actually enjoying it for what it is becomes a pointless effort

we are all only here once, whatever all our views on climate change are we will be forced out of our cars at sometime in the near future and into domestic appliences on wheels,we wont be given the choice we never are

so lets just enjoy what we have while we have it!

No use wishing and wondering what if? when its too late?

we can weld up classic shite with more undressed welds than the san andreas fault, bondo over chicken wire in non structural areas like our forfathers did and paint our shit motors with £50 of enamel but lets use them, lets drive them and sod if it was all done factory with the spot welds all in the right place.

Im cobbling mine back together as a survivor and then I plan to enjoy the ungrateful little shit

I have always been bigger in imagination than in skill or determination so calling it a day for me would be like - well I struggle to find anything inactive enough to compare with my life's work on motors.

Oh, I have been out and under in the pissing rain all weekend just so I can drive to work on Monday as much as many of us but I haven't got the inclination to do that any more. I really sometimes do think I have bought my last car, hopefully not but if it turns out to be the case then I won't be losing any sleep over it.

I will continue to maintain the things I have but I have no more misty-eyed plans to "save" something - the Cowley scratched that itch and to be fair it has been a hugely rewarding car to own. That and the Minor will do me, to be honest. Unless I win the lottery.....

Hmm, despite the awfulness I went through part way through sorting my Capri out, I still have absolutely no intention whatsoever in stopping!
The biggest and most restrictive issue I have is space and time. Enthusiasm is no problem.
I don’t think I’ll ever do what I’ve done the Capri again, that is hard work, but restoration or preservation of old cars? Yep, without a doubt.

I’m constantly thinking of things to do or that I’d like.
The other problem I’ve got though really is doing heavy work. My back is knackered and anything heavy or long periods leaning over car engines does not do me well!

Maybe it’s an age thing!?

I actually wanted a second Yank :o

But meanie pants Sam said no

Id have another but never want to get so involved again,my health just doesnt agree with my enthusiasm

I only have a Mk1 Tina on my bucket list though I must admit like a Mustang II is a Yank Capri for those who cannot afford a Capri

I quite Fancy an Escort Mk1 estate but cant afford one ( but can afford a Pinto Wagon for those playing stateside ;) )

I’ve been looking into Soviet era trucks...

Not pickups, proper big stuff! ZIL 131 6x6 or a MAZ 537 8x8 heavy haul tractor! The chances of me actually getting one are slim but I most definitely would!
