Forcing us off the roads?
Re: Forcing us off the roads?
TripleQX 10w40 is £14 for 5L in ECP and even cheaper in 20L tubs, how cheap do you want it?

Wikinsons have green 20w50 in a tin for £16.50 (5l), which appears to be identical to the stuff Halfords sellcaptain_70s wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2019 10:50 am20w50 has been £20-25 for 4l for as long as I've been bunging it in the Dolly.

I like green oil, it reminds me of Duckhams Q.

£16.80 in Halfords if you have a trade card. Halfords trade cards don't cost anything and it seems pretty easy to wing the application so it's worth doing even if you only use it once and save £1.Conrad D. Re: Forcing us off the roads?
I was always using my local motor factors in Aberdeenshire as it was the only place which stocked oil locally, so not the cheapest!
Latterly I was using Comma Classic 20w50 'cause I could get it posted to my door for about £20 via Amazon and it really didn't matter what oil was being burnt in the 1300 as it was just being, erm, burnt...

Burning that much I would be bunging super universal tractor oil into it or CAT DEO whichever came in cheaper...

Re: Forcing us off the roads?
Many places still seems to sell 20w-50, even in Wilko they've started stocking the metal tins classic oil. I don't think their plastic bottle stuff is "classic friendly" though - i.e. it's likely low ZDDP. The plastic bottle stuff is probably more for your rusty fucked Ford Ka.
Parts wise there seems to be a plentiful supply of generic, common BL parts with no signs of drying up. Just the quality can be a bit more variable. I guess that'll vary even more if production runs lessen due to demand.
Saying that, with the rolling exemption, the amount of classics registered on the road has gone up slightly for some models. So potentially greater demand again?

Re: Forcing us off the roads?
Oil aside as bits get harder to get people want mega scene tax for silly stuff! Rear quarter interior panels in mine are warped and cracked by west coast sun
So somebody in the II group is breaking a car he paid a few hundred for thats rotten.
He asked if anybody needed anything I enquired about the rear quaters?
Now 74/75 and half of 76 had padded rear quarters with fake wood trim but Ford soon realised its tendency to warp and crack so replaced them with hard plastic item which while not as plush or detailed are strong.
So his breaker is newer with the new panels and they are the wrong colour with holes in them so need work he wants £35 each!!! As they need work I offered £50 for the pair or would give him his asking if he threw in the cover trims for the A pillers.
Boy did i get the backlash! of how the wrong colour panels requiring work he wasnt budging and he couldnt throw in the a piller trims you think id asked him for the crown jewels
Its just made me determined to find a way to repair mine.
In the states he would get away with it but here its a small audience well he can keep them now lets see how long it takes him to move them on
