You appear to have infinitely more patience than me, though!
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

Re: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain
I try, though my patience was worn thin today.
Part the way through trying to work on the car the power went out. Middle of the day and I needed to put the kero lamp on.
Wired the alternator in, need to get a bit more 8AWG to run to the battery post- then heavy gauge from the starter to the trunk should see it electrically done.

I know someone who rebuilt his Land Rover Dormobile by the light of two Tilley Lamps in a lockup with no power.
He now rebuilds Steam Locomotives in a slightly better workspace.

I got the alternator wired in to the fusebox, went and marked the wire to join the fuse box to the light switch battery common terminal and cut the wrong damn mark.
Now I need to buy more wire.

I wired part of the cottage I had by paraffin lamp, it's more fun when you can't see what you're doing.

Re: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain
Way too early in the process for such thoughts. I did think it's caught fire when I realised I couldn't see across the room for smoke/mist/something though. Turned out it was so damp that the lamp near the ceiling had dried out a load of condensation on the ceiling & I'd made my own cloud.

Nearly there, got one more wire to terminate at the fuse box and that can be loomed up.

I preferred it before, it was more authentic!
