Re: What did you do today?
The A55 is back on the road at last. Following the HGF me and a mate decoked the Head and replaced the Gasket but I ended up having to farm the oil change out to a garage due to the awful position of the Filter. Have been doing some local bombing around and attended a couple of evening old car gatherings at the pub where I met some friends of the previous deceased owner who were happy to see it again. If I decide to hang onto it I've found someone in the owner's club willing to rewire the car as the original loom is tatty in places and also get quotes for a stainless exhaust as the old Earlpart stock is now gone.

Those oil filters are a pillock on the Austins owing to the chassis design. Bloke in our local motor factors was a BMC apprentice and spent the best part of 2 days getting one to seal in his early days. He reckoned the gaffer told him to just wipe the filter bowl with a petrol rag and mark it off on the job card! Nice to see it on the road again - shame about the Coventry interloper in the pic!

I've done nothing to the MGB body for 12 years but a look underneath yesterday revealed dried up underseal. It scraped off easily and I painted on the black stuff that remains waxy.
The exhaust pipe is back on with a patch where it used to catch on the damper bolt. - paulplom

Fire away, they are meant to be proper little sports cars. I tried one & couldn't get on with the seating position, but from what I've heard it sounded like a dodgy seat.

Re: What did you do today?
I bought it a few months ago on the beige with no mot for £750. Cost £250 to have it transported up. Bunged it in and it passed with no advisories. I've done quite a bit of work to it including a full respray. It's standing me just over 2k now.
I'll start a thread when I get a bit more time.
