Re: Squire's voitures
Thank you. It certainly is a cut above the rest. I wasn't hanging about when I motored down to the New Forest, cruising in the mid-80's much of the time, and it returned an excellent 21 m.p.g. I bagged a few parts for it too, stuff I needed and have since fitted, update to follow.
Meanwhile in M.G. news, I removed the aftermarket airhorns - the compressor wasn't compressing - and firstly fitted a Klaxon low-note I had. I felt this was a bit on the quiet side so I supplemented it with a Clear Hooters high-note.
The best horns I've had the pleasure of hearing were twin Delco's on a 1961 Victor F. Proper deep low note from the rock n' roll era.

Re: Squire's voitures
No I haven't done anything much to it except routine maintenance and repairs, indeed I don't really want to spend any money on it.

Re: Squire's voitures
The Midget is a nice little motor and on days like this with the top down I really enjoy it. But, my preference is, and always will be, saloon cars. With the MO sold and gone, I am going to throw some money at my old station wagon and can think of a list of imperative jobs (mostly cosmetic):
welding repairs to trailing edge of front wings,
welding to inner wings,
welding to nearside rear wheelarch,
new steel rear wings (one genuine Austin-Rover obtained),
interior work,
new windscreen,
replacement front bumper,
re-spray,
engine rebuild,
carburetter rebuild,
attention to differential (leaking),
brake re-build (collected genuine parts),
crossply tyres.
Though I've been using the thing it wants justice doing to it. You will remember I spent months on the original woodwork, which came up a treat, and it had received extensive repairs before my ownership, so is essentially solid. The engine is a good liar about its 90-odd thousand miles but drinks a quart of oil over high speed long runs. The rear windows accumulate a disgusting oil film so it's clearly pissing out.

Re: Squire's voitures
It's round wheel arched model. Why is such thing seen as so desirable by the Midget fanatics?
Looks lovely from the pictures. What is it like closer up?

The way you phrase that, it sounds like you might be selling it sometime in the future?fried onions wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2019 9:13 pm The Midget is a nice little motor and on days like this with the top down I really enjoy it. But, my preference is, and always will be, saloon cars.
