1,275cc is the best engine & the round wheel arched cars are considered the best looking. I don't really know why MG when back to the flat rear arches at the time.

MG did that sort of thing around that time.
It's possibly like the front grille on the MGB. Only was there for a year or two. I much prefer it to all the styles they did of them (the honeycomb one on mine is second in my list).
