Typical, a wheel cylinder is on back order.

Messy job. Don't take many pictures. Passenger front assembled. Need to do the rest, bleed the system then adjust.

Re: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain
Lower spring and adjuster off.
Shoe retainers off.
Shoes off.
Cylinder off. Slightly disturbing, it was only held in with one bolt.
Buggeration.
Oh well. Greased everything up, found another bolt, put the new cylinder on.
Shoes back on and zeroed.
Shopping list made. Rear line looked kinda ropey too, so I bought a 25' length of brake line. That's tomorrow's task. Shame they only had a single flare tool, I have a nice double flare tool, but it's in England.

"All new brakes", said the advert in 2015. I bought it in 2018 and between then it's gone about 6 miles; you be the judge.mercrocker wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 11:26 am Blimey somebody had their money's worth out of those shoes!
Either way, it's getting new brakes now.

Got the hard lines done to the back, tee is cleaned, rear left brake has new hardware.
This can only be an improvement. The adjusters were stuck solid, hadn't been touched in a long time.
