Two air crash rescue land rovers
28AG12 and 28AG16
They were built by HCB Angus as a rapid* response airfield fire truck.
Only 22 series 2A versions made and only a handful left.
Me having two of them makes me special, in my own mind.
They don't look like that ^ anymore though

I spotted 16 on a lapsed gumtree advert. It as in London, 450 miles away and, with the help of an AS member, I had it shipleyed up the road.

One of the good things about ex MOD LRs is the fact you can find old photos of them in their former glory.
They all left HCB Angus painted red, then were given the appropriate paint job depending on which force they were deployed to.
28AG16 got to close to the action at one point.

I like the Maestro.

They were very competent cars. I sold a few of them. My favourite was the 1.6 auto with power steering. Not a bad car all. Just ugly. They didn't even rot as badly as some other cars. Not structurally anyway, they always looked rough externally. Easy wheel arches to fill with wob though. Similar width to a rubbing block

The maestro had crunchy arches with some interesting repairs
I managed to pick up some as new front wings and valance for £140

Do those Angus fire engines have altered gearing what with their bigger than normal tyres?

They have lowered gearing to help acceleration when the 100 gallon tank was full. One ton chassis with 900 x 16 tyres on the hard to find and increasingly expensive 569203 or 569204 deep dish rims.
