There can't have been a single worthwhile part left on that scrap Allegro once you'd removed the engine.

Re: Squire's voitures
Where are the crusty bits on your allegro squire? Mine has been in a shed under a cover for 18 months and I'm worried what I'll find when I finally take the cover off. The fronts of the wings were bubbling already and the door bottoms were getting crunchy.

Re: Squire's voitures
Door bottoms can go but aren't a known weak point, are the drain holes clear? Front wings rot around the indicator/sidelight unit if the area is not cleaned regularly. Another peculiar area affected by corrosion is that very light unit. They have been known to rot right through to the bulb/reflector.
The front panel is a known area for corrosion, where the tie bars meet and the front wing to front panel seam. In fact the whole front end should be watched like a hawk and treated with preservative. I meant to remove my tie rod brackets and treat inside but never got round to it.
Boot floor where it meets the wheelarches goes on some cars, on others they're like new. Same with the sills, although the plastic protectors fitted from Series 2 onwards encourage rust. That's about it really, Allegros were one of the few cars to be fully undersealed from the factory with 3M preservative. Another Allegro feature you got as standard.

Re: Squire's voitures
The guys are really forging ahead with my Minor. Last time they asked me if I wanted new sills, as the ones on the car were the 'wrong' ones, although they looked solid. I reasoned I might as well have it done now and I'm glad I did as it was pretty bad under the home-made sills. They were made from nice thick steel though and were attached by heavy-duty welds, the body man said he struggled to remove them!
Spring hangers and jacking point also repaired/replaced. All looking good, it will be super once finished and I won't have to worry about the rust bug for a few years.
