Re: Squire's voitures
I don't think cycling a lead acid battery will help, had it not got a warranty?

Re: Squire's voitures
Heavy discharging a lead acid will sulfate up and break down the plates. Starting batteries suffer more as the plates are thinner to give the high starting currents. Deep cycle batteries have thicker plates to last longer when deep cycled.
The older batteries described in the Weston-Super-Mare would probably have been thicker plates as the technology wasn't there to make them reliably uniformly thin.

Re: Squire's voitures
This battery must be totally cream-crackered. I put the charger on and noted the reading, then when I checked about 10 hours later it was still the same. I tried a couple of other chargers but they're just the same, so it's not even taking a charge now. The cells weren't even gassing.
Bollocks. That means it's cost £60 a year in service. I've never had a battery fail after just under 3 years' use. As a last-ditch attempt I am now going to increase the electrolyte strength and then try the Bat Aid pills.

If it really is goosed, just rebuild it. Those are much simpler to get the top off compared to new-fangled tosh.

One in the same now.

I don't know if Lincon rebuild those things, or just flog new. Maybe they did in the past? Might be misremembering a PC article from the olden days.
Haven't watched it end-to-end by around 9 mins I liked the blokes cavalier dismissal of sparks when sawing the top off. Minus points for not having a fag hanging out the mouth during the whole process though.
