Re: Wobland Spottage
Yep. Me too.....Banger racing was fine back in the day when there were loads of decent cars on every street corner. I acknowledge they did accelerate the decline of the Farina, old Jag, big Ford etc. as everyday users but so did cack-handed maintenance, driveway neglect and the ever-present reluctance of Man to do simple sums and realise he was better off with the old 'un.
However, I also cannot abide seeing stuff smashed up for the hell of it, the drivers of yore were a different breed to now and the ones I knew are nowadays sinking money, time and affection into restoring and using the kind of car they once drove to destruction. Proper enthusiasts, in other words - not "look at me" types outdoing each other to wreck something ever more rare and "valuable".
As for Top Gear, I gave that up when Clarkson joined and started his public school japes on perfectly ordinary motor cars. Overgrown tosser.

Re: Wobland Spottage
Thirded about Clarkson era Top Gear.
Lazy shite about "unions" and our cars being rubbish, when they failed to notice that German and French cars of the era weren't any better (often worse). When they were smashing them up they might as well have been saying ha ha ha that was your jobs, your efforts.

Re: Wobland Spottage
Saw this today.....An unfucked SWB Land Rover with questionable wheels but little else to jar...
Also in the carpark was this rather lovely Riley Nine.
Some kind of classic gathering which I gatecrashed in the Cowley long enough to have a bacon butty and a bit of a natter before heading off. There was some other stuff there but I didn't bother getting photos.
