An immaculate air cooler RD 350 came screaming past me up Eridge hill . Right on song and trailing the smell of castrol R . Only it didn't appear go THAT fast ...??
I've got so used to modern howling superbikes overtaking and rapidly turning into a distant dot on the horizon , this thing looked really slow !!

Talking of VW campers, I was out in mine tonight parked up at a local forest pond. This turned up - I heard it first, thanks to those pipes!

XK140. Just bloody lovely.
I almost prefer these to the E Type in the same way I prefer a Mark I saloon to the Mark II.
I prefer XKs to E-Types too. The biggest problem with the E-Type to me is they forgot to make the track wide enough for the bodywork & it looks like a monorail from the front or rear. Something the lowdrag versions sorted & look so much better for.

In aerodynamic co-efficiency terms if I recall rightly the E Type is actually slightly worse than a bay window VW!
0.42 for the bus, 0.44 for the Jag....go figure!
It's all about airflow round and under the vehicle as opposed merely to drag.....

Well with VWs the drag is normally what's worn inside.

It's the cut off tail that does it I think.
I don't think that Kamm tails were a thing until the mid or late 60s.
