Is the nearest one a RHD ?
Yep, it's a Mirage which was basically a GT40 with modified sleeker bodywork. It was run by John Wyer Automotive aka JWA in Gulf colours and ran a bigger Ford small block rather than the 289ci/4.7 motor that the regular GT40s used. The photo would be from 1967, from 1968 prototypes were limited to three litres and homologated racers to 5 litres. The 'P' on the body denotes it as a Prototype in Group 6 rather than 'S' for Group 4 which was for cars that had been homologated with over 25 built. All the racing GT40s were RHD with a right hand gear shift.

Siffert?
Correct, Jo 'Seppi' Siffert. I was at Brands Hatch in 1971 when his BRM crashed and burst into flames and he lost his life. A very sad day.
I googled Jo Siffert and saw he died at BH .I watched the video last night on youtube .. horrific . Nothing anyone could do... Was that JYS in bits ,at not being able to save him?

A boyfriend of my Mums (one of the many rich twats that hung around, one bloke had a Silver Shadow registered; DDM1 and a Jensen Interceptor registered 1 DDM) and I loved it. My first experience of GRP and a lack of rust and that lovely 3 litre engine. The same chap later had a Gilbern Invader (like a Scimitar, estate version of the Genie) and that really floated my boat!

I haven't seen the video, didn't know there was one. It could be JYS but not having seen it I can't say. It could be his team mate Francois Cevert as I recall a school friend telling me that he was in the pits as his father was a senior doctor at the meeting and that Cevert was crying in his car and saying that it was Siffert. Two years later he was killed in a terrible accident during qualifying for the US GP at Watkins Glen. The meeting at Brands was a celebration of JYS winning his second world championship, it was a non-championship event.

Driver loss during that period was frightful really....Stewart campaigned tirelessly for safety, often drawing criticism from the rest of the "circus" as well as journalists. He did seem to take it really badly when somebody lost their life racing.

Just realised that the picture of Jim Clark and the “ V4 Corsair” is actually that 1500 column change car from the film and some early photoshop!

Film car is 4 door, too. I am not sure we got V4 2 doors here, certainly not in the catalogues although there were definitely export ones.
