Wasn't there also a 4/50 that was few inches shorter than the bigger one?

The 4/50 and 6/80 Wolseleys were Morris Oxford MO derivatives (i.e. Minor-shaped)treehugger wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 7:57 pmWasn't there also a 4/50 that was few inches shorter than the bigger one?
Companion 4 pot to the 6/90 was, initially, the 4/44 with a 1250cc XPEG engine but that model was replaced with the 15/50 - basically the same car but with a B Series....

Re: Found pics
The thing I never understood then and even now, is why the Alpine got the fancy high back seats and the Rapier and even H120 didn’t. Also the Kamm tail bootlid on the H120 , was it a different boot lid or just different trim, I’ve never been sure. Just answered my own 50 year old question with those pics- it’s an entirely different boot lid.mercrocker wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 5:25 pm That's a car I never understood. Folk complain about BL/BMC muddled marketing but to replace the Alpine (in name, at least) with a version of the new Rapier minus a bit of trim/performance (including the vinyl roof quarters) and random hi-back seats always seemed a little odd to me.
All part of the Arrow mix, I suppose....Plus I was only 8 at the time.

Re: Found pics
Yes it was! I seem to remember run-out Alpines being fitted with H120 bootlids but I might have semi-invented that. What I do think about the highback seats (apart from trying to maybe cash-in on London-Sydney Hillman GT connotations) is that in their corporate mind Chrysler somehow got the feeling that the highbacks made the car "feel" more like a 2-seater and therefore more connected to the previous Alpine.
Doesn't explain the actual Chrysler Alpine, though, I know!

Re: Found pics
It was a design study by Bertone studios, based on the Fulvia. It did eventually lead to the production/homologation Stratos rally car a year or so later but that car ended up with the Ferrari Dino V6 engine.
