FAKE NEWS !!!

That is a rendering from 2019, not the actual New Astra.

Rest assured the Astra is still a bland Eurobox, likely to be driven by angry little men who can’t keep their wives happy and think breakfast cereal in a sandwich bag is a delicious treat.

Interesting* fact....The Cresta was the Vauxhall that established the tradition of model names ending in "A". Followed by Viva, Firenza, Astra, Vectra, Insignia, Ventora, Frontera, Zafira, Calibra, Mokka, Omega, Nova and probably others I can't be arsed to think of.

I suppose it was just a general theme, using the ....A names, rather than an actual rule. AFAIK Carlton emanated within Luton rather than Russelsheim or Detroit.

AMC (American Motors) used the Cavalier name for a design study in 1965. Nothing came of this work of symmetry (intended to simplify and reduce production costs) but some of the general shape was echoed by elements of the production Hornets.

By 1968, GMC had registered "Cavalier" as a trade name although it sat on ice until the Vauxhall range debuted in 1975.
