Yep, those estates were great at lighting the night sky.

It is quite illustrative of their success, though, that of the 5 cars that have passed the junction on the right 2 are Cortinas and 3 are Billy Blundereds...

I miss those streetlights. Quickly disappearing now they're hitting End of Life.

Our road lost our Sodium lamps the other day and now have some LED replacements that are pretty ugly industrial design while being way dimmer without a nice glow.

I get the need to reduce light pollution and all that bollocks but I do miss the sodium pall that hung over our town. And you are right about the lighting - its shit. Not so bad for car drivers but rubbish for pedestrians.
