Didn't every body switch to diesel bluebirds once they were available, every private hire driver in Birmingham had them at one point.
My in law lives next door to the local women's shelter, they get kick offs regularly there when someone won't leave or somebody turned up who wasn't supposed to, people who run it are really nice to her and she's got a special number to call if she feels unsafe at any point or she sees something kicking off.

I think the diesel Bluebird was the Prius of its day, probably the most suitable cab and drivers obsessed with making every last penny count had one. Meanwhile the cool kids still had petrol Cavaliers, Carltons, Sierras , etc. My last licensed petrol was a 3 year old N reg Omega 2.0i16v CD. Plenty of diesels around by then and I owned a couple of Montegos that I rented but there was no way I was going to drive a smelly derv just to save a couple of quid a week.

I'm really amazed LPG private hire cars have only ever become popular in the Birmingham area given the savings

A mate had a 3 year old one that was his dads ex company car. It was a 1990 H reg in white, top of the range 2.0 gxi? Fuck me that thing took some abuse. Ran with an empty tank all the time as he was too tight to put petrol in. It used to start hiccing when it was really low but would do that for 5 miles or so before running out. Often fully loaded with six people never ever had a service hammered mercilessly everywhere and still ran beautifully. He had it for years. I can't remember what happened to it eventually.

I'm sure the all the late Washington cars had it. Definitely the Turbo ZX saloons did as a few of my mate's dads had them.

Mine was a G reg Sunderland car, had the fancy full adjustment/lumbar/bolster seat, fancy radio, electric windows and sunroof, pas, central locking etc but that was it

Excellent coffee table book in this warren. Well ok maybe the bog but I reckon it’d be a winner.

Less annoying tag line.
Just when I thought I was out they dragged me back in.
