I'd love to have one of these but I just don't have the facilities to look after one properly.

I work next to a highly respected specialist and I know they sell the odd one but dare not venture into their premises in case I commit to something.

The welding started this week, the lad doing it is not the fastest or cheapest but he does do a pretty good job. One side is now done which has taken him all week really but as there was no lower arch and a big lump of sill missing isn't too bad. It had been done before with a load of filler in the wheelarch. It will still need a load of wob to make it right but at least there is good steel there. He is doing the other side next week which he will hopefully do a bit quicker as it has to be on my 4 poster so I can't get much else done whilst he is here.

Just out of interest what's the going rate for that, looks like exactly the same job I did on my other halfs Lexus, the inner outer and centre sills had vanished for the last 12"

I'd be interested to know too. Looks like a lot less work than I've done on a couple of old heaps.

Well so far he has had 220 quid which stings a little but he has put a lot of work in.

That Burgundy Bentley is Hnnnngg and an awful lot of car for the money

If the Burgundy was owned by a posh Sultan, the Green one must have been owned by the Sultans Of Swing, but your man is making nice work of that sill and arch repair.

I don't think that's too bad; welders these days fall into 2 camps, shite and cheap or expensive and good. Theres no in-between anymore, the skill base has gone.
