Re: That awful colour MGB GT
It's years since I had my BGT and I loved it.... Again, swapped suspension bushes etc....
Access was only an issue due to the original steering wheel being relatively large and blocking leg access to the narrow footwell.
Just needed a technique and you got used to it.
Boxster was easier by far for me.

I've never driven a Boxster but mine is OK with the hood down, I never drive it with it up now.NorfolkNWeigh wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 2:00 pm Regarding ease of access for creaky old feckers is it worse than a Boxster. I’ve been using ours as an every day car for the last week and I’m looking enviously at Qashqai drivers
With it up I reckon that it'd be a fair bit more difficult bending down to get into the drivers seat without headbutting the hood frame.
Being overweight, tallish and in my late 60s doesn't help.
If I remember correctly the GT has a taller screen than the roadster and the door apertures are correspondingly larger, the GT also having different quarterlights to the roadster.

Re: That awful colour MGB GT
Refitted the original steering wheel at the weekend. I spent a lot of time cleaning it up, feeding the leather rim (at least I think it's leather!) and cleaning the rust off the wheel arms.
I personally think my aftermarket Moss wheel is much nicer but not only do I want to keep it, most buyers prefer a classic as stock.
Didn't want to come off with pulling, so reverted to a puller which did the job.
I torqued up the nut to spec (40lbft iirc))
Back to original.
Now I need to make a proper concerted effort in selling it. I will miss it but I really can't keep them all. Even if I had room, it'd just be sat around and that doesn't do a car any good whatsoever.

Re: That awful colour MGB GT
Would have been 7yrs at the end of July. I feel sad as end of an era. But is the sensible thing for me to have done.
Sold it to a chap who found it on eBay. He lives in Midsummer Norton, so I'll probably still see it. Just hope it gets looked after, garaged and used. Can't be many low owner cars about now.
Next thing will be getting on with my other cars that are projects. Weather is improving too, so worth pulling the Spitfire out of storage and get that sorted.

Re: That awful colour MGB GT
I've had this so long that it feels weird to know it's gone. Got £5k for it. I had hoped for more but didn't have anyone else when they looked around it on Monday. This morning I had like 4 messages appear.
But cash in the bank, it's gone and one less car to keep on top of.
