3 months? I would stick the key in and just start it. nearly 3 years and old red shed needed not a lot more
Yours does sound sweet though sir. The running gear on these was bullet proof, fret not

This after just over 3 months with the B-Series in my MGB for comparison and what I expect from BMC designs!richardthestag wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 9:42 pm 3 months? I would stick the key in and just start it. nearly 3 years and old red shed needed not a lot more

I like your B Simon, I get a feeling for cars and yours gave me good vibes when I saw it around this time last year. In fact it rejuvenated my desire for a BGT.... you gitSiC wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 9:48 pmThis after just over 3 months with the B-Series in my MGB for comparison and what I expect from BMC designs!richardthestag wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 9:42 pm 3 months? That car should be such that you could jump into and drive for 200 miles without a second thought! It is a good car and your ADO will be another

A happy and complete life is having at least two cars. One of which should be A-series powered and another with a B.
Perfect!

It's a shame they didn't do a 1275cc A-series with two extra pots on the end and put it in the MGB. 2l 6cyl would have been a nice old lump and completion for the GT6.

Ford went that route quite effectively with their old in-line Zephyr 4 and Zodiac lumps. Made production engineering sense too with all those common components....

If I remember correctly the A series lasted far longer than expected, just like the classic mini, so I guess any plans to do that would have been applied to one of its aborted successors.
As Triumph apparently had more clout than MG I wouldn't see them letting a GT6 competitor being approved.

True, but in 1965 just prior to the GT coming out it might have stolen a lead on the GT6.....Or even earlier and saved the embarrassment of the Twin Cam!

Yeah, I was thinking of it being done later than that. That timing would have probably resulted in no C series MGC but a better car with similar power.
Wasn't the Twin Cam eventually sorted out, pretty much the same as the Stag V8 finally was ?
