These are cheap points. Contacts look burnt out to me. I suspect usually crappy condenser with these things. Going to have a root around to see if I can find a decent one out of my MGB bits. Almost certainly got a spare set somewhere in this unsorted* garage...

Yup, condenser is mullered. Those are burned to hell.
Coupled with the fact it's been damp inside there has killed them.

Get a couple new ones

didn't you have 9/16ths of one of these before πŸ˜‚

This one looks nice though πŸ‘

Slide on over to Distributordoctor and order up the ignition components. anyone else will sell you cheapo chinese cheese products! even worse if they come in green boxes with lucarse written on them. New repro lucas makes the old stuff look faultless. Those points are tired though

Mayo is from lots of cold starts and never being warmed up properly, rest your sphincter until you can get it up to temp.

check that the needle/ jetset in that carb are working, chances are that old o-rings and stuff have gummed everything up. Easy enough to fix those carbs though

have you got a dalek? be nice to see it back to bouncy castle height again.

Like the colour 😎

Lovely and I don’t think I’ve seen one in that colour before.
Certainly not since I was a youngster.

I should have a decenf set but I'm blowed if I can find them. After initial running, I'll likely go electronically assisted points. Again if I can find the spare unit I've got!

Got a home brewed job that I used on the purple one. Just waiting for some fibre washers to arrive so I can fix it. Still got some fluid left thankfully.

Going to build up a list for a trip to Moss tomorrow. Need to think of what we need essentials at home first. Missus already has given me grief for buying yet another car that has arrived broken. 🀦

Thinking carb rebuild kit (o-rings, jet, gaskets, etc), oil, plugs, air filter, fuel filter, fuel and anything else I can think of. To be honest most of that should be here apart from carb kit. πŸ€”

Not a spin on filter for these. I assume I clean the mesh out?

Worth converting to spin-on? Iirc merccrocker had problems with modern adapter kits.

I don't think it is an original colour! Certainly not from the period literature on the 1100 club website

Austins were Trafalgar blue in '67.

No the colour isn't an original BMC one, certainly not in period with the 1100. I can't place it though...

It looks very like the colour of my first mini 850 but for some reason I always called that China blue.
The colour of my first two minis actually :D
