Well after a lot of searching I have found most of the parts required so it isnt as bad as I first thought. Certainly not as bad as the poxy mercedes which needs a fuel pressure valve that is no longer available.

Parts supply for old Mercs is finally killing them off as viable daily transport for me. Mine's languishing up the barn waiting for me to be arsed to Ebay it. I take it that one's carb - I thought they were a bit easier but obviously not!

I'd always thought Merc was good for supplying old parts?

They've probably followed VW's lead and decided it's not worth it any more once the existing stock has gone.

MB were good up to about 15 years ago but now seem to have finally turned their back on all the good stuff they made. Any service items you can still get tend to be made in South America or Asia. The kudos of "MB only" parts has become irrelevant.

Well merc didn't totally disgrace themselves as the gearbox inhibitor switch was still available and "only" about 90 quid. In Deek news it fired on easy start as it appears there is no fuel getting through and I haven't got any 2 stroke mix here. I will have to go home and rob the lawn mower.
