Lovely colour though. Same as vactan so you won't notice so much when the inevitable happens.

There was an XF for sale on Facebook last week for £2900 that was tempting me. It then vanished and appeared two days later for £3800 by a different seller.

Re: Modern Motors Well Worth A Look.
i've got the whole "buying another car" thing to look forward too either end of this year or early next, to replace the tired and crusty Rover.
there isn't much that takes my fancy. no word of a lie, there is very little out there that i can either see me in, or would aspire to owning.
well no, i like the Jaguar X350 XJ saloon, in 3 litre pez flavour cos i don't really want another dizzler, or a Fiat 500, something like the special 57 varieties edition.
an eclectic pair, no doubt cos both models ape their older, classic forebears. for instance the Jaguar would be half the price of the Fiat, BUT the Jaguar will (no doubt) be fragile and needy like the X306 XJ i had in the past, AND also be £615 a year to tax, AND be maybe 30mpg in usual use. and the Fiat, well i quiet like them they are ok on the fuel and are £30 tax a year, but SMOL, VERY SMOL in comparison to many other vehicles on the road. especially for the wacky races that is the Parkway-A19-A66 on a weekday morning.
i'll end up with a P38 Range Rover instead. or something else really damn unsuitable, cos, well, idiot........

Re: Modern Motors Well Worth A Look.
When I'm back on the taxis (hopefully) in a few weeks I'm very much tempted to spunk the extra £20 a week over the cost of renting a Mk5 Mondeo to get an XF. In fact, if I start a thread about it on here I can claim the extra £20 on TDW expenses.
The one I drove was in for a DPF replacement after refusing to regen. Not sure if that's a common fault or not?
Jaguar XF 2.2d
Engine size: 2.2-litre diesel
Power 161bhp
0-60mph 9.8sec
Top speed 130mph
Surprisingly it's slightly slower to 60 than my old Ioniq! My main worry is whether it'll fit four standard cases in the boot through its tiny opening. My old Passat had a huge boot but it was impossible to load the cases because the boot lid was too small.
TDW disclock and killswitch champion.

Re: Modern Motors Well Worth A Look.
The 160 bhp is only in the SE, basically Jag Popular. The good news is that you can remap to 220 bhp for about £300 and a full leather interior is on,y a couple of hundred quid on eBay. Basically because 95% of XFs have leather and there’s little demand.Warren t claim wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 12:36 amWhen I'm back on the taxis (hopefully) in a few weeks I'm very much tempted to spunk the extra £20 a week over the cost of renting a Mk5 Mondeo to get an XF. The bad news is , no you can’t get 4 cases in the boot , 2 large 20kg type a carryon wheelie and some squashy stuff around them. The back seat is very tight for 3 compared to an E Class although legroom is about the same. I bought mine despite this because I wanted a change and the old PSA/ Ford tractor engine and the 8 speed ZF seem to be the lowest risk . Do not buy an Ingenium engined one, ie post 2015 ( X260) it follows in the great BL tradition of being a bag of shit.
Mine is a “ Luxury” which ironically is equivalent to an L. Full leather, electric seats but no memory or heating. Nav and reverse camera- no DAB . The Premium Luxury and Portfolio add better leather and a few more gadgets
I’ve had mine for about 5 months and only done 8,000 miles as I’m not really working it anymore. A boost pipe split which was £75 and the soft close bootlid doesn’t any more and I have to admit to half expecting something to go wrong, so as much as I like it, I’ll probably be changing it for, something German and most likely V8 as I’m only doing the occasional job.

I've spent the last 6 months in hire cars and one which stood out for me (despite it being below my grade) was the Corolla Estate 1.8. It was just a very sweet and satisfying thing. And no, I never thought I'd say that.

Re: Modern Motors Well Worth A Look.
The wife wants to replace her Alfa Mito with a mini.
She likes too drive like a tit so wants "sporty".
Which ones to avoid? Don't say all of them, as once her mind is made up common sense goes out the window.
Wouldn't be able to afford much beyond an '18 or '19 plate.
And yes, I would much rather spend the money elsewhere.
I will be glad to see the back of the mito though.

Re: Modern Motors Well Worth A Look.
All the prince engined cars. Tbh the Tritec first gen cars are getting on a bit now too. On those avoid the Midlands box.
Apparently the prince engines were better after 2011 or so. Still a bag of shit.
First gen cars, the diesels are a Toyota lump. Second gen cars, the diesels are a PSA 1.6 HDi.
All of them are horrific long jobs for clutches. DMF on them all.
Pick of the bunch would be a first gen Cooper S.
Have you considered the alfa giulietta? The 1.4TBi Multiair and 1750TBi are quite fruity while being affordable to buy. 172bhp and 230bhp respectively.
