Building the Leg End. The Old Jag thread.

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Building the Leg End. The Old Jag thread.

Post by The Reverend Bluejeans »

Hammy Jag video from 1984.

I miss the days when Jaguars looked like Jaguars and not a Qashqai.

I think they could have managed to say Legend a few extra times, I did enjoy seeing it though.

Shows how little the line had changed, but then neither had the car under the skin. They'd kept the same rust traps from the original XJ for starters.

When Ford took them over didn't the chief guy say something like the only factory that he'd seen that was worse was the GAZ factory in the USSR.

I’ve been to car plants all around the world. Apart from some Russian factories in Gorky, Jaguar’s was the worst I’d ever seen.’

Probably said that to give reasoning on cutting staff and their benefits in the name of modernisation.

It was well known at the time how archaic it was.

If I remember correctly John Egan spoke about it in his book about Jaguar.

I was hoping to see a Honda in this thread. Imagine my disappointment.

But, nobody could really better the XJ12.

I wouldn’t cross the road to look at a recent Jag though.
