Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

I guess there's not many teen-agers would have preferred the van to the car...
Unless they had ulterior motives, of course....!

Escrote vans were all the rage when I was a lad, with either a RST lump or Pinto if it was the correct wheel drive.

Well today I've done a few bits. Fitted a led spotlight in the rear of the van, better than courtesy light and wired into beacon wiring. Fitted bulkhead behind seats too. Also installed some wooden shelves down one side. May mate bought a doblo with a snapped cambelt. While he was under bonnet I half inched the framework out the back. I'll be honest I had a bout of panic and anxiety when I went on m1 but to be expected I guess. Fuel gauge came back to life and working showing nearly full tank but the temp gauge has now fucked off.

Would that be a faulty voltage regulator?
It's an old Ford. Anything is possible.

Give me a Maestro van anyway.
Try finding an half decent one with 10 months ticket for 500 quid. Mind you same can be said for escorts as price is rising.

One of the first columns I wrote was advising people to buy up Escort vans rather than having savings. The final ones were built alongside Jaguar X-Types. I bought loads of ex-BT examples and sold them all but never kept one for myself. Still, they were a let down after the Maestro van, even the ones built to JagFord standard.

That seems cheap looking at what the escorts fetch
