Yes, I thought that was the whole point of "smart"motorways and variable speed limits - not just "add a lane" and let it go to ratshit.

I’ve noticed that they’ve stopped calling them Smart Motorways , the signs now say “ Preparing forDigital Motorways”
Makes me think back to the digital watch I got forChristmas in 1977.

I wonder if HS2 and the third runway at Heathrow will end up being canned, due to a significant proportion of their expected passengers now Zooming rather than travelling.
Coronavirus is an ideal cover for a change of plan.
