I cannot believe the Bentley is terminally knackered, hopefully like you say it's because of constant start up, shuffle and switch off has fucked it up and will improve with use. A lot of them seem to be treated like that.

Re: I seem to of done something stupid yet again
I am going to try and save the Bentley it is borderline on repairing it or breaking it but as long as the brake pumps will repair rather than having tom be replaced it shouldn't cost too much. I do need a special tool though to take them out. Flying spares do one at 130 quid or I can hire one for 20 quid. As I now have 2 of these big old heaps it might be worth buying the tool. There is a bit of welding to the sills and rear wheel arches to do and a set of tyres as they are all cracked. I have 2 new tyres that came with my other one so hopefully I can get it on the road for less than a couple of grand.fried onions wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 6:36 pm I cannot believe the Bentley is terminally knackered, hopefully like you say it's because of constant start up, shuffle and switch off has fucked it up and will improve with use. Re: I seem to of done something stupid yet again
As I have been unable to carry on with any paying work due to a fucked Focus ST stuck on my ramp awaiting the correct rear suspension arms I thought I would get on with the Fiat. The rear brakes are all standard and new with just some slightly rusty brake pipes. These were all replaced with copper and reassembled. It might need the linkage to the brake limiter moved as it has 1 1/2 inch lowering blocks fitted on the rear spring. If the rear brakes get a bit snatchy I will adjust it. Moving on to the fronts I am still awaiting new calipers but fitted the fancy drilled and grooved discs. It is having EBC green stuff pads and HEL braided hoses. Next up was the exhaust which for some reason has a hole drilled in it right where the front pipe joins the rear box. Easily fixed with a new pipe. The light wiring was a right fuck up as the sidelights were originally in the bumper and had been deleted. I found the front spot lights have halo's on them so a bit of swapping wires and we have side lights. The headlights were fitted with H4 bulbs shoved into the 410 bulb holders so these have been removed and some nice French yellow bulbs have been ordered. Final job for now is the oil leaks. It is pissing out of the sump gasket and the driveshaft gaiters on the gearbox so more parts ordered.

Doesn't sound too bad for a remotely-purchased Fiat!

Re: I seem to of done something stupid yet again
Send me the chassis number and stuff for the Bentley would you and if I end up buying it I can then get an import tax statement prior to the 31/12.
I’ll be happy to pop you some cash as a good will deposit if you reckon you can turn a few quid to cover your time/profit and still allow me to realise a bargain. BiL would collect on a trailer to sort any bodywork prior to dad getting hold of it and then I get to dodge import duties.
Less annoying tag line.

Just when I thought I was out they dragged me back in.

In other news the Fiat was picked up this morning. It looks a bit lost on the trailer mind.
