Biggest thing (imo) is that they tend to stand by their products. If they do have design faults, they (especially Honda) will extend warranties for those affected parts for quite a bit longer. This is in stark contrast to most of the German brands that either flat out deny an issue or completely ignore any complaints there is an issue. Only when it gets too bad will they then do something, usually under the counter when most have been sorted already.

See BMW "Quality enhancement program", etc

We bought a second hand Avensis with the lean burn engine. They developed an issue with the O2 sensor, a very tricky bit of kit, so Toyota wrote to us to say they were extending the warranty until the car reached 7 years old as a gesture of goodwill. It never went wrong. But that kind of reassurance is priceless. Thats why my inlaws, despite living in the shadow of Longbridge, abandoned BL in the early '80s, ditching a TR7 and a Marina for Toyotas. I got them back into Rover with a brand new 75 Tourer, but guess what....

I had an '03 civic 1.7 diesel civic at three years old. It was nothing but fucking bother. The parts were expensive as fuck too. Alternator £350 and you have to drop the subframe to fit it. I chopped it in for a new fabia in 2008 when the bastard shit it's head gasket at around 70k.
That fabia was a good car. Top spec and the 1.9tdi with a remap. 60mpg and went like a stabbed rat. Got rid when ex was pregnant with my daughter and bought the '05 V70 which I kept for over ten years till partner wrote the fucker off. I would've kept that car forever.

Where's Eddie?
I can't seem to get a drivers side rear indicator unit for under three hundred quid. I tried the local TPS which is a vag specialist and they wanted £338! Having to buy a full fucking indicator unit with a circuit board instead of a 50p bulb. Proper progress there like. What a bunch of wankers them nazi cunts are.

Given the extortionate cost surely there's someone who fixes them?

In the old days I remember the little signs you'd see in a back window saying "Disabled driver no hand signals" I'm surprised nobody has knocked one up "German executive car, no signals"

People expect that kind of inconsideration from the drivers of Aldis and BMWs though, don't they?
