Hand brake is fixed. I cycled it on and off three times and the warning message went away. It works perfect and holds the car no bother.

Ours very occasionally triggers the error and according to the code it's the switch. Error code will tell you exactly what it doesn't like.

Just been going through the handbooks and the audi has full history up to 165k and reciepts after that. The original owner paid 45k for it new and chopped in a three year old seven series which they gave him 22k for.
It has some frigtening bills for it. One for £1200 for two bottom arms.

Mate had a 2003 RS6. Looking through the history of it, the first owner had a bill out of warranty at 4years old was £10k. One of those cars that no garage wants to touch. So you end forced to go to dealers and get hammered.

Yes, this was all dealers and in 2019. The problems it's got are all very common and not very easy to fix. The mmi stutters when it reveals itself and it's the nylon cogs wearing. They now do a brass upgrade it's that popular but it means taking half the dash out. Fuck that. I'll live with it.
It does give me an uneasy feeling it's one small failure from the breakers.

About nine years ago I had an agency job driving a bin wagon for a council. During the usual daily casual racist/sexist chat that bin crews talk about one lad asked me about the B4/8D Audi A4 I drove to work that day instead of my usual 406. I told him that I also traded cars as well which is when he asked me if I had a traders policy, which I did have at the time. He then asked me to go and look at his dream car that he'd saved up to buy after work with him, a 1999 (I think) Audi S4.

We rock up at the streetlight trader's house to see this yellow S4 that had clearly been overprepared parked in the street. As we get out for a closer look the vendor hops out of scabby smiley faced Transit recovery truck parked nearby to greet us. Pretty much every red flag was being waved in front of my face but my colleague for the week was positively pissing himself with excitement.

A test drive was offered so I ask the vendor if he's got demo cover on his trader's policy to which he replies that he's not a trader! Yeah right! I slide behind the wheel, a task made easier by the copious amounts of silicone spray that'd been spunked over the interior, and all three of us set off for a test drive. To its credit, the S4 did seem to pack an adequate punch, but the suspension was well baggy and the clutch was clearly on the way out. I asked about service history and bills but all the vendor had was the V5 (filled out as sold to a motor trader) and a random Audi handbook. My bin man workmate was gagging for a go so against my better judgment, letting someone demo drive a car that I'm not selling on my insurance, I let him drive back. I could honestly say that it would take plastic surgery to take the smile off his face.

Back at the vendors' "address" I drag bin boy away for a quick huddle in the bushes (not a euphemism BTW) and I explain to him that all the bits on the Audi that are on their way out are specific "S" bits and therefore fucking expensive to replace. I tell him that for less than a third of the money he could buy a tidy A4 2.6 with plenty of history from a good home that would give him 85% of the car for 33% of the price but he refused to listen. In his mind, it had to be an S4 or nothing and this was the cheapest locally he could find. He paid the full asking price and arranged a short term policy to drive it home.

At least the S4 lasted the next three days before I fucked off for a better agency job.
