I wish I'd though of that on Saturday, I actually have a pair of stands which have v shaped supports which are useless for everything else but perfect for supporting a wheel key!

My dad's ones I've not managed to acquire off him yet have a curved top that's equally useful for such things.

Progressed with the Corsa boot lid, more flatting back required: I replaced the rear light seal on the 75 in an attempt to stem some water ingress. However I had this yesterday:
If I hadn't taken the advice of " it's definitely always that", I would have notice that it is this vent on the nearside:

..and another on the offside behind this box for the Harman Kardon sound system:
The back bumper needs to come off to remove them, I'll likely not get a chance to do that until next weekend so I sealed the nearside one with Vaseline for now.

I also carried out an oil change on the Bini and pronounced my 50p o-ring replacement on the oil extractor a grand success. It retained its vacuum until the relative amount of oil had been extracted into the vessel rather than losing it through the seal. All the oil was out in 10 minutes.

There's a set of roof bars going free for the 75 from another Rover group member nearby so I'm off to pick those up this morning. I'm going to get a bike carrier for them as next year we are going to try a bit of cycling. Currently there seem to be a fair few good-looking 2nd hand bikes on in the market and I bet this will increase after Christmas as new ones are received as gifts.

Good work on the leak source.....Lost count of how many I've fixed over the years, lately on the Focus, by eventually ignoring the "it's always....." advice. I hate leaks and have actually sold cars because of them.

Replacing the rear light seal didn't cure the water ingress issue on the 75.

I found out that the seals on these vents were leaking:
Puddle in the spare wheel well.

The offside one is behind some sort of apparatus for the Harman Kardon sound system, which was a right war to take off and reattach as there are quite a lot of 8mm bolts and bracketry.
The vents pull inwards but the tabs to release them are behind the bumper, thankfully the latter is held in by relatively little.
I sealed up the vent aperture with silicone. If that doesn't work I'll ladle some Vaseline on. That usually works but it's a bit of a bodge. I'll book an MOT for it next month.

I had a Rover 75 and the boot leak was from the rear 1/4 panel seam, it is unlikely to leak on those vents. Bloody Honda Civics do it as well so it isn't just an MG Rover quality thing. I managed to cure one of the civics with a load of seem sealer but really the only way to do it is stripping half the car down and sealing everything again. I gave up trying to cure the 75 as it was coming in under the rear screen where the panels joined at the rear 1/4.

It was definitely leaking around those vent seals, I saw it dripping in. Common problem. The rest of the leaks (there were a fair few) were sealed up by the previous owner, we still chat from time to time. He said he had previously done these, I could see evidence of that, but that it was some years ago and probably needed resealing.

My first 75 leaked from the rear screen but I didn't keep it long enough to sort it. Captain Tolley's creeping crack is meant to be a good product to use.

Hopefully all dry next time I look.

I can recommend Capt. Tolley.....I've had a persistent screen leak on my T25 van for many years, had 3 different (and reportedly better) screen rubbers fitted now by different screen specialists and the only thing that finally cured the ingress was the Tolley stuff.....

Whether I have an aperture problem or the rubbers are simply not up to it, I don't know but it was always the same bottom lefthand corner.

Oil change on the Audi a few days ago. I thought I had better use it as some mould was starting on a part of the interior.

As the hood was so frozen, it started leaking at the main windscreen seal into my lap as the ice melted.

I took it a good run and when I got home I had it running for a further half an hour as I attempted to jump start my neighbours car. It took a lot of electricity to get it going.
