Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
Re: Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
I knew Simon German , he lived at or near Louth at the time ,but we are talking decades ago.He moved away and haven't seen him for a very long time. One of his R16 s a Sea Green Metallic TX is owned by a RCCC member up in County Durham.Another of his cars an early phase one GL went to Ireland. My restoration project 16 KOO 153 J has been out for a spin today into the pleasant Leicestershire country side , Northamptonshire is full of houses now , building them everywhere ,when I was young Northamptonshire used to be a pleasant rural county ,but not any longer !

Re: Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
It was in Louth. Back when Estate cars were Estate cars, I filled the back of our Granada 2.3 GL Estate DUD2V with four doors, rear axle assembly and a gearbox. He was practically giving the stuff away.
The green TX was there, a very late one on a T plate iirc. They were just worthless then - strange to think it was just ten years old at the time.

Re: Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
In preparation of our upcoming epic* journey, I ordered some genuine Renault parts.
I learned this from Squire Dawson.

I'm sick and tired of that Chinese rubbish.
Sadly I was unable to obtain a genuine oil filter, so I ordered an Italian replacement in the hope it's actually made there. But I will see whether I find any proper ones at Mezidon-Canon.

I just fit Volvo 3/4" threaded oil filters on my old Cleons. (I also fit those filters to Reliants).

Yeah, that's what I got now. An Italian Ovlov filter. Fucking globalisation bollox.
Will stock up on original NOS Renault ones if available at Mezidon-Canon.
Want some too?

Thanks, but my stocks are high. Plus post 1984 they went to M20 thread. My Volvo filters are made in Germany.
Genuine Citroen (and Gen Honda Jizz) are French and are made by Purflux with their zig zag elements.
