At the time they had a long, narrow workshop on one of the arterial roads out of the city, bordered by a brick dwarf wall. There were usually a dozen or so Reliants for sale, plus the occasional Bond 875 or Bug, lined in echelon behind the wall. One morning as I returned blearily home from some bird's house back to mine I saw that somebody had lifted every single front wheel up onto the wall, lining each car up from the diagonal as they did so. Whoever did it must have been bloody knackered at the end.

I started my motorised career the opposite way round. Learnt in a 1991 Fiesta MK3 (5sp man), 1985 Volvo 240 estate (auto) and a 1964 Austin 1100 (4sp crash 1st) over a 20 day period. After passing I had the aforementioned Citroen and Wolseley auto. Then this. After this I acquired the above 1100. I think it must have been when I got my first Kitten estate in 1994 that I finally got bought a manual with synchromesh on 1st.mercrocker wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 7:48 pm My dad's brother was a trike-licker. He took his bike test back in the Sixties and when the time came for a sidecar for the kids he bypassed the combo route and bought a 3/25. A series of vans and Supervans followed until he finally managed a 4-wheel test and entered the world of mediocrity with one of those Kei-sized Vauxhalls whose identity I prefer to forget.....
I got my first motorcycle in Feb 1993 and took my test in Nov 1993. So I went down from 4 > 3 > 2 wheels. Then in Nov/Dec 2007 passed my rigid/artic and bus categories.

A bunch of us who might have had a drink or two once moved someone's Mini down three steps into a sunken area in the middle of a pedestrian area, no idea how they got it out again.SiC wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 9:06 pm Reminds me when Smart Car tipping was a thing.

Me and 3 girls attempted to prank a youth leader at a camp weekend by moving his Mini Traveller. Nothing we could do would get it out of the quagmire of churned grass and mud he had abandoned it in so we simply pitched a spare tent over it.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

One of the many peculiar Covid symptoms is that you start to picture cars with unfeasibly thin windscreens. I'm sure this this is narrower than mine was....

I remember in the late 80's watching a montego drive in to the back of a parked robin reliant at 30mph.
The robin shot forward through the air for 30yds and was undamaged. The montego was completely fucked and the front passenger corner totally stoved in.
The bloke driving the montego couldn't believe the damage. I didn't laugh much.

Tiny swept area of screen, minimum amount of guttering too for this year.Eddie Honda wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 1:30 am That's the Ultra Panavision 70 windscreen edition Regal.
Doubtless you're familiar with the cylinder head's occasional reluctance to part company with the block. I was amused to see my mates car dangling on a chain from the roof beam for several days until copious amounts of diesel round the studs did it's work and if fell back to earth.

The mk 5 in the black and white pic did have a narrower screen than your Mk6 Cros,a lot of it was down to strength,Reliants fibreglass knowledge was in its infancy and they weren't confident enough in having a larger screen at that point, also saved a tiny bit of weight.
