The Crappy Hamper Thread

So that we keep the other threads relatively free of bed-ridden portaloos I thought we could put all camper, caravan and tent-related stuff in here, a bit like the back of the shed we only get to one hot weekend a year in the search for the missing bit of water-carrier hose.
To kick it off, I apologise for the immediate VW content but it's all I have. Sorry/fuck off as appropriate.
I bought this to replace a Bedford CF ambulance some 15 years or so ago. Yes, I know a CF is betterer in our eyes but mine wasn't. It was fucked and the prime need of a campervan is to camp Somewhere Else other than outside the house.
It has no name, just Van, and is a 1.9DG water-cooled flat-four T25 of 1987 vintage. Conversion was by Richard Holdsworth and involves a side-fitting unit of finest MFI-board comprising, sink, two-ring cooker, grill and cupboards. 3/4 width "rock and roll" bed, space for a potty and two seats up front.
Pics just to give you an idea of the basic level of miserableness involved in a camper van....
It will cruise at 70-75, is very pleasant to drive (all the mechanical racket of a cement-mixer in a washing machine is projected rearwards) and I suppose the longest time between our own comfy bed at home has been 10-12 days or so. It really is a mobile beach hut as we tend to spend summer days down the local beach. The factory hightop suits me as although access is denied to pikey-barred car parks we have loads of extra storage for bedding, folding chairs and the like that would otherwise have to be lugged out of the house each time - something that gets very tedious.
We did have a 1960s folding caravan but I got fed up with towing it and paying for yet another garage. I have a good storage deal for the van over the winter which keeps it out of the worst of the weather and means it can come off tax for a few months a year - basically I lay it up at the first sign of salt and get it out sometime between now and Easter, weather depending.
Feel free to add your own misery/bile/ridicule/yearnings as necessary....
