Calm down dear, I'm not a Moggie expert and don't know what I'm looking for. I had no idea there was a fourth place with another number.

Googling shows what I should see. If there is one there on mine, it's not legible. Just some faint undulations in the metalwork. Or it's covered in filler.

How does that number relate to everything else? Last digits of the number on the stamped plate further up?

Ahh, it is nice to be behind the wheel of an economical car again in these days of costly fuel. I dismantled both the Aggy’s calipers, cleaned them up inside and out and re-fitted along with new pads. Filled up after 160+ mile drive and the tank only took 17 litres.... that’s over 42 omg mpg. Having been used to the comfort and power of a 3 litre car I can feel the difference on hills and speed in the venerable 1100, but extracting almost double the miles out of a gallon of petrol I can accept that quite happily.

Theoretically, my Minor should be capable of similar but I doubt that it is.

Nice one on the Alan Klein cover by the way!

I used to be able to average 35mpg in the Dolly 1300 in it's tired state, will be interesting to see what it'll do with a fresh lump.

Minor in good tune should have no problem getting that on a long run. 35 sounds right for a Triumph 1300.

Klein never got the recognition he deserved. A clever and talented man.

I think that is partly my problem - Minor hasn't done a long run for a good while. Carb is fairly new and set up correctly but the car does spend a lot of time being thrashed around town.....

Klein is still alive, I believe so I suppose all the bullshitters will come out of the closet after he's gone about how great he was. I have his first two 45s and the Crazy World stuff, I should get the LP as well really.

That’s usually what happens sadly - nobody gives a toss when they’re alive but when they snuff it there’s an outpouring of grief and celebration. Aye, too bloody late then.
