There was an exhibit at training school of a battery where someone had placed a spanner across the terminals and it welded itself to it. You could have used it as a handle. This one has already taken a chip out of one my nice old spanners.

Negative terminal has an accessory connection point - not needed on the earth side terminal.

I thought those lumps were for holding a terminal cover on!

Still coming to Shitefest?

I decided against it. A tedious motorway journey and bad weather changed my mind.

That's a shame. Weather is looking better tomorrow.

Did a little service on the Midget. As well as greasing I had meant to top up the clutch fluid a few weeks ago. I was inconveniently reminded of this when the gears were extremely hard to get.

Where has all my clutch fluid gone?

I also went with an elderly neighbour to try and get this old gal up and running again, after cleaning all H.T. connections and some fresh petrol we succeeded in getting it to run briefly before it conked out again, I know nothing about tractors even though it has the famous Standard-Triumph engine, this has what looks like an updraught carb. We will try again with a fresh battery at some point, when the next logical step will be forward and reverse motion.

A straight petrol! That's a rarity. Carb is simplicity itself, check points, condensor, dizzy cap and plugs.

I should have clarified, it has a small petrol tank beside the battery and the main top tank is for the usual vapourising oil. We only took petrol to get it running, as both tanks were dry.
