Seals in the master cylinder kaput? They went on my MGB after bleeding the brakes. Most likely because bleeding them moved it onto a rusty section and killed the seals.

Alloy master cyls are okayish but can flip the seals if you're over vigorous or are working on Vauxhall rubbish.
Iron/steel ones - ALWAYS use a pressure bleeder.

I just bleed brakes by pumping a few times but never taking the pedal below its normal travel so as not to damage the seals. Then I just let it drip to get rid of any remaining air.

Anyway, I collected the engines and boxes with Laycock de Normanville overdrive units. I intend to fit an overdrive with gearbox to my Snipe. It cruises happily in the mid-80's as it is, but an overdrive would be a welcome fitment.
