I admire your work ethic with these projects. If I was trying to fit overdrive to the Humber the timeline would be something like

December 2019: google "overdrive" and open wikipedia page
March 2020: read first few lines, minimise browser window
August 2020: accidentally open xhamster link in same tab, setting project back months

Coincidentally when I was first developing an interest in old cars, these two books were the first I bought. I also have not owned a Morris Minor.

I grew up with Minors (two Uncles had them) but never bought the books as I never wanted the car! Buying a Minor sixteen years ago was a default choice - Mrs Rocker wanted an old car but really fancied a Prefect. Couldn't find a decent one so bought the Moggie. I thought I better run it for a couple of months as we bought it in the Winter and make sure it wasn't going to be a duffer but it never got handed over and I gave her the Merc instead.....

Still nothing to report on the Minor engine but I have been playing with the gold paint. I don't particularly like the drab green of these engines, although many seem to don various shades of it where they've been repainted over the years... as I will be doing some work on the engine I am painting it gold like the Gold Seal units. This will look stunning in the engine bay against the light blue body colour.

Do you remember Alan's Allegro Engine Bay ...Yellow Head and block looked quite good ...Perhaps Trafalgar Blue head and block

The Brooklands Minor book was one of the very first they did. I ordered it from Motorbooks who advertised in Practical Classics. Would have been around May 1981.
Their forewords were by R.M Clarke who is actually Brooklands founder John Dowdeswell, a fine man (now well into his 80's) who I have had the pleasure of meeting.

Every now and then, I dig it out for a read and wallow in nostalgia. The Minor was very highly regarded by the press. I have a VW Beetle one from 1983 and a Mini Cooper one from 1984.
