Loads of wob, now cracking and rusting though = Lots of underside prodding required. Says it's had lots of welding, could be 10 years of overlaid MOT patches.
It does look the part though, aside from those banded rear wheels.

Yeah definitely a case of a good look underneath like anything of this age. Very much why I'm not too enthused about buying a car unseen, especially an older one. The 1100 was a rare gamble that I won on though. Ok the paint isn't original but it is so bloody solid, not least for a ADO16.captain_70s wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 9:39 pm Loads of wob, now cracking and rusting though = Lots of underside prodding required. That red Spitty from earlier is winking at me a lot though and I'm finding hard to resist. I'd be surprised if it actually sold for £2.5k though as that would be very cheap...

Funnily enough this popped up earlier.
Moggie minor traveller custom built on a LCV (van) body many years ago, so it doesn't need the wood. Personally I prefer the woodie original.

Not particularly pretty, but not ugly either.
It's different! I quite like it, but I also like the woodies too.

Something I've been pondering about if I ever get this car...
1. Should I keep it with the 1275 lump and enjoy ragging around in it.
2. Get the 1275 engine running, then sell for ££££ (seem to be fetching £800+ for a runner) and put in the 1098cc.
Also thought about selling the interior as iirc it's in good condition and so likely worth a bit. Would then retrofit a more comfortable seats - something like a Ford Ka, Rover 45, etc leather seats.
Selling the 1275 and interior could possibly net enough cash to effectively make it a free car... Which given everyone always points out how it's deviated significantly from a 1957 car might not be a bad thing as I'd never be able to sell it on easily anyway.

Have you had any news from the sellers on it yet?

Yes I know Spitfires are supposed to drive awful but this has a low starting price without bids so far and they're on my list of classics that I've wanted to own since I got interested in cars when I passed my test. (BGT, Midget, Spitfire/GT6 and Moggie)

Sold for £2500! Someone got a cheap Spitfire.
Noticed there are 3 bids but the price didn't go up from the £2500 start bid. This tells me either someone added more on to make sure they won it last minute, or potentially a shill bid from the seller to stop it selling at that price.
I'd liked to have bidded, but I can't really justify two new projects inbound (at least thats what Mrs SiC said...).
I was kinda hoping it would have no bids and then I can go in after to try bidding down further after auction ended. Probably didn't help that it ended an hour before the football started either.

That was on Monday. I'd like to say its getting ridiculous but then we're waiting on the DVLA which isn't helping here either.Hi, she chased them today, asking how long it was going to take to respond, was meant to have a response in 5 working days, which was last Friday. Both emails have been acknowledged as received. She has agreed that if it's a 'no' that's the end of her quest to keep the plate. So hoping for a quick resolution hopefully this week. Car is stored in xxxx.
