So it's a stolen 1971 car that's been rung as a 1978 version, or he sold the original ID to someone who wanted to ring their's as tax free.

Deseamed, a ringer and a shitty sunroof. Seems like a proper bargain.

Already being broken for parts. Probably the best thing for it.

Mayfair confirmed to see tomorrow afternoon.

I have been busy reading up more on what year Minis got what. You all probably know this but I didn't realise the early 80s Minis still got front drums. Explains why it's still on the 10s.

How does the 10s compare to the 12s for handling? There doesn't seem much in the way of choice for 145/80/10 tyres anymore either. I was anti-flared arches when I first started looking but I do get the feeling the larger wheels are less hassle with modern parts supply.

How do these porridge cars compare to the bigger engined 1275 later cars? Still just a fun or is there a marked difference in handling between them?

I'm wondering if the Mayfair will be a bit too cold oats and scruffy for me. It does very much depend on the condition and price on that one. I don't think I want to spend more than £3k on it though, even if they do go for more. My mind does find that hard to justify that on a bottom end, high mileage Mini!

Carb early 90s Cooper in BRG I think would be top preference now I've been looking through what is around. Just quite a rare thing. Hence I've softened to maybe a SPI or even MPI.

Also kinda intrigued to see what's around and if anything for sale at Haynes this weekend too.

If it makes it to Haynes on Sunday there will be a lovely bargain DKW. Imgine the fun you could have driving through the Bristol low emission zone sticking your fingers up to the crusties whilst belching out 2 stroke fumes.
