Pineappling Pursuits.
Re: Pineappling Pursuits.
I'll just show you this picture of my properly pineappled Beetle, which I've owned since 1985. It's a 1303 Superbeetle with the MacPherson front struts & a curved screen. the suspension is all but identical to that used on the 924/944. The front struts on mine are actually early 944 items, complete with huge ventilated discs. The 944 hubs & discs bolted on directly at the back too.
Obviously it has an idiotic engine too, but sadly it's been sat in my garage for a number of years patiently waiting for me to have money & time.

The boot lid is horrible. Well done.barefoot wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 5:13 pm I'll just show you this picture of my properly pineappled Beetle, which I've owned since 1985. Re: Pineappling Pursuits.
Thank you, the boot lid is stock 1303, the wings are 2inch banded to cover 7inch & 9inch Cookie Cutters.
The engine is a proper oddity; the original 1285 case, but wearing 1641 barrels & pistons, a cam shaft that's just lumpy enough to make it run unevenly at 30mph in top & a pair of dellorto 40's. The cylinder walls must be terribly thin because the case wasn't machined, I don't think you can even buy barrels like that any more. It was built by John Maher in 1995ish & produces about 90bhp. The gearbox is the original 1300 so it is massively undergeared. At 70mph in top it's right in its power band & flies round to the limiter at 93mph.
It's a bloody riot!

Sounds a bit more entertaining than my knackered Wasserboxer.
