That reminds me, there is a Bond book where he drives a Saab after having his double zero licence removed. No idea on the title but I read it years ago.

It might not be one for you intellectual types, but this costs about 20p and is worth every penny. I enjoyed the tale of a bloke who bought his mini van in to have a new exhaust fitted and the idling set higher. The author told him the work was unnecessary, but carried it out when the customer insisted. The next day he learned that the van owner had been found dead from carbon monoxide poisoning. Turned out he'd discovered someone was tupping his wife each time he went fishing.

Both this and "Backfire" mentioned by Brandersnatch are in the pile of paperbacks in my bathroom cabinet, together with Gerald Nabarro's autobiography which is not a particularly easy read as he tends to irritate me.

James Herbert, who incidentally passed away eight years ago today, used to regularly name check cars in his novels.

I will always associate the beige Capri II 1.6 GL with randy estate agents after reading Lair.

Christine by Stephen King was always a good read back in the day.
I used to collect James Herbert's books when I was at school. I must have read the rats trilogy a good few times.

It was apparently one of Ian Fleming's regrets that he never managed to weave his own personal Studebaker Avanti into a Bond novel. An idea for the present franchise-holders, maybe?

There’s a bit in it where Bond is either chasing or being chased , yet he sits in the car without moving off straightaway. He explains to his passenger that it’s to build up boost in the turbo so that they can get away more quickly !?!.

In one of the Sebastian Faulks Bond books, he drives a Continental GT , which is sort of a nod to Fleming , I suppose.
