but there is one large seal on the top which is knackered, we can't find a new one, it seems integrated into the body of the cylinder.

It looks like an Alfred Teves type of cylinder. Those seals on the low pressure side are push in. You can get them, but they all seem overpriced on eBay.

I'd be more worried about braking the white plastic inlet elbow removing it. In theory it pulls out...

There's another one of those things with a smaller middle hole, I think 7. something mm. You'd really need to measure.
