They do! I'm not entirely sure I fully trust them to be accurate though...

Needs an oil pressure gauge
if it's the same as the MG, they removed the oil pressure gauge when they fitted the 1500.

Why?
Get someone to press the clutch while you look at the front pulley. Any movement fore and aft means the thrust bearings are fucked.

Re: 1979 Trouble Spitfire
It doesn't appear to be a ringer....1275GTs were built until August 1980 so could easily end up on as late a plate as "W".....Certainly that one looks to be commensurate with its registration. Remember also that until the prefix letters came in it was customary to issue the current registration suffix on any freshly re-registered, imported or late-sold cars.SiC wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 11:24 pmAs someone pointed out on the beige, the reg is too new for a clubby. Could be grafted on but the dent and rust would suggest it's been like that for a while. Not sure why anyone would ring it either.mercrocker wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 10:40 pm StIll get the odd itch for a Trump 2000, have to be a Mk1 too.....Most of my Minis looked like that Clubbie - we had MOTs back then of course without exemption but I never worried about them because I don't think a single one lasted till the next test date....
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

Comes up as registered as 29 April 1988 and a Austin Mini Mayfair. No imported/exported markers either.mercrocker wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 8:58 pmIt doesn't appear to be a ringer....1275GTs were built until August 1980 so could easily end up on as late a plate as "W".....Certainly that one looks to be commensurate with its registration. Re: 1979 Trouble Spitfire
I was just saying to Mrs SiC that I'm quite content with all the cars I have now and have no interest in getting anything else for a good while. So I better not look at what is in that auction.NorfolkNWeigh wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 9:09 pm Just seen this advert, in your part of the World too, Ilminster.

That said, I'm quite partial to a few old signs.

Re: 1979 Trouble Spitfire
I know your game.
I'm not rebuilding the engine. At least this year.
If I know it's broken then I'll want to fix it as it'll big me. If I don't know it's broken then I'll continue to drive it. If it's fucked, then I'll find out when it implodes. Then chuck another engine in anyway.
ND said the first thing he did when he bought this was to get a crowbar on the front pulley and check for play. He didn't see any. So I'm going by that basis it's fine. Fine for now.
Yes I know now I've said that, it'll probably kill itself soon.

Ah yes I've just checked the link and it's reminded me that I saw a Facebook post about it.NorfolkNWeigh wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 9:09 pm Just seen this advert, in your part of the World too, Ilminster.
